Phillies cut clip of Nick Castellanos revealing Miami’s beer drama

Open one for the end of Nick Castellanos’ tenure in Philadelphia.

Castellanos was released by the Phillies on Thursday after a tumultuous and disappointing stint with the team.

This led to Castellanos Being on the bench for the next game By Phillies manager Rob Thompson, who said at the time that the outfielder was penalized for an “inappropriate comment” in the dugout, something the 33-year-old Castellanos addressed Thursday.

Castellanos posted on his Instagram account: “As a veteran baseball player, there are rules, and I broke one of them in Miami.” “After I was taken out of a close ball game in front of my friends and family, I brought a rep (sic) into the dugout. Then I sat down right next to Rob and told him too much slack in some areas and too tight restrictions in other areas is not helping us win. Shout out to my teammates and Howie (Kendrick, assistant general manager, who was in the dugout) for taking the beer out of my hand before I could even take a sip of the ball (I appreciate you guys).”

Castellanos, who played 13 years in the majors, has one year and $20 million remaining on a five-year, $100 million contract he signed after coming off the best year of his career in Cincinnati in 2021.

His time with the Phillies didn’t go well, even though he was an All-Star in 2023.

Castellanos’ production declined sharply after that season and his departure from Philadelphia was almost a foregone conclusion, especially when the team signed Adulis Garcia last offseason.

He was reportedly asked not to come to spring training, and there was reportedly no locker for him at the team’s spring training facility in Clearwater, Florida.
