Bodybuilding champion falls dead during exercise
A Bodybuilding champion He collapsed and died of a heart attack while exercising, according to local reports.
Juan Sebastian Anzola Quintero fell to the ground while working out at the Smart Fit gym in a shopping mall northwest of Bogotá, Colombia, last Thursday — as staff and other gym-goers rushed to try to save him, according to reports.
They used a defibrillator and tried CPR for about 25 minutes before realizing he couldn’t be saved.
The gym said: “Unfortunately, the person died before being transported (to the hospital).”
Quintero – who was also known as “Sebas” and “Juanse” – won numerous bodybuilding awards in the bodybuilding and classic physique categories.
He also ran a business selling and promoting nutritional supplements and was known for documenting his fitness routines on an Instagram account that has since been removed.
His family and friends demanded an investigation into his death.
A Smart Fit spokesperson told local media that the gym regrets his death and extends its condolences to his family.
