Bad Bunny’s Halftime Party: Messages

Problem: The controversy surrounding Bad Bunny’s performance at the Super Bowl LX halftime show.
The Super Bowl halftime was well staged. . . If you speak Spanish, come from South America or promote tourism in Puerto Rico (“The rabbit left a bad taste.” February 10).
There was no connection to broader America or to American patriotism, which is the essence of the Super Bowl.

I didn’t hate the halftime show as much as most people did. I couldn’t understand a word, but the production and dancing were very entertaining.
As far as shocking political commentary goes, everything he tried to say was summed up much better in “West Side Story.”

If Bad Bunny had some talent, I might have missed it. However, he is skilled at holding his penis and “singing” reckless, insulting lyrics.
This has nothing to do with singing only in Spanish. If the likes of Luciano Pavarotti sang a few Italian tunes, or the Buena Vista Social Club sang some beautiful Cuban boleros, no problem. But you bad bunny?
It seems we have reached rock bottom in our quest to weaken America.

Football is the #1 sport in America. English is the No. 1 language in America. Therefore, it was not logical or reasonable that English was not the preferred language during the halftime show.
No matter how good the performance was, it was an insult to the American people.

Bad Bunny’s astonishing performance was a slap in the face to all Americans, especially the fans who had turned the NFL into a multi-billion-dollar business.
Most viewers had no understanding of the words and did not share his view of the United States. The NFL should be ashamed.

The Super Bowl is a unifying event where people can enjoy sports away from the problems of the day. Despite this, the NFL chose an artist who brought with him a lot of political baggage.
Some people objected to the show because it was in Spanish, which is nonsense. I’ve watched Pavarotti for decades and never understood a word he sang.

Problem: US President Donald Trump has set a deadline for Russia and Ukraine to reach a peace agreement by next June.
The deadline for reaching a peace agreement has been extended again, until June; At this rate, one wonders when that will happen (“WH wants peace deal on schedule: Zel” February 8)?
It is now certain that Vladimir Putin is taking full advantage of this, and Volodymyr Zelensky continues to ask for more help despite the loss of life on both sides. Who is really the winner? I would say: no one.

What we are witnessing daily in Ukraine are war crimes committed by Russia that have increased since President Trump took office.
If the world allows these crimes to go unpunished, what future will we all have?
It is past time for Congress to stop the useless delays and pass the legislation needed to end this war.

Judging by recent events, Trump’s barking has turned into very little intervention in curbing Putin’s criminal behavior in Ukraine.
I think something has gone awry here and that there is a disturbing reason, unknown to the public, for the President’s failure to take further action here.
And God help the people of Ukraine, because it seems more likely than ever that we will not.
