WATCH LIVE: The House is expected to vote on Trump’s tariffs and conservation law


House Speaker Mike Johnson could be seen talking late Tuesday night with holdout GOP lawmakers as he tried to block a vote on the Trump administration’s tariffs on foreign goods from Canada, Mexico and other countries.

Many Republicans joined Democrats to move forward with the vote on the tariffs, depriving Johnson of his control over a slim majority in the chamber.

As GOP leaders debated the chamber, it was not enough. The procedural move failed, 214-217, meaning a vote not to approve the Trump administration’s tariff plan is expected on Wednesday.
